Cranberry Nut Bread

2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 ½ tsp. Baking powder
1 tsp salt
½ tsp. Baking soda
2 Tb. Shortening
1 Tb. Orange peel
¾ c. orange juice
1 well beaten egg
1 c. cranberries, fresh or frozen
½ c. chopped nuts, optional

Preaheat oven to 350°.  In a bowl mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and soda.  Stir in orange juice, orange peel, shortening and egg.  Mix until well blended. Stir in cranberries and chopped nuts.  Bake 55 to 60 minutes.
